Member Highlights

Rebecca Schmelzer, daughter of Rhonda GriffithGrubb received her BA degree in art therapy, art, and art history from Capital University. Rebecca is currently employed as an activity specialist at Goodwill Industries.
Jason Grubb, serving in the U.S. Army, served in Iraq in 2004. He was married last March, 2005, and is currently based in Ft. Campbell, Kentucky. He is scheduled to return to the Middle East later this year.
Timothy Grubb graduated from high School in June, 2005. Timothy has enlisted in the U.S. Navy, and will be based in Chicago, Ill. Rhonda and her family have a lot to be proud of -our prayers and blessings go with each one as they go forth in their prospective duties of service to their country.
Life member and past WSCO president Dr. David Jones, led another successful tour of the UK for his Otterbein students. He went to the UK ahead of his student$ to attend the marriage of WSCO life member Matthew Barry in England. He said the wedding was exceptionally beautiful and moving.

WSCO welcomes Betty Wasto as its newest member. A newly retired accountant, Betty's roots are in Jackson County. Betty has also joined the Columbus Welsh Singing Society. Croeso, Betty.
Life member Jean Savage missed the bottom step of her basement stairs, and fell, breaking several bones in her left wrist. Jean was in a cast for eight weeks. Several weeks later, her husband, Lloyd, had a pacemaker implanted the day after Thanksgiving. Good wishes for speedy recoveries go out to both of them.
David and Barbara James have just purchased a new vacation home in Rio Verde, Az. They went to Rio Verde in November and will return to their Ohio home in late April. They are really enjoying the sun and warm temperatures there. Barbara writes: "We also have wonderful wildlife parading through our backyard, which has included roadrunners, quail, coyotes, rabbits, and javelinas (wild boar) among others".
 
Santa came early to Shirley and Terry McKee's house on December 12th, when he brought grandson, Samuel Thomas Novak. The very handsome young Sam is the son of their daughter, Marcy, and her husband, Rich.
Life member Chip Cecil just returned from a successful trip to the Czech Republic. His export business is opening up all over the world, and has taken him to the Ukraine and elsewhere. Congratulations on your success, Chip.

It is with great sadness that we learned of the death of the following WSCO members

Paul Schumann on January 6th. Paul is the husband of WSCO member Marietta RiggsSchumann. Marietta was Co-Chair of the 1998 National Gymanfa Ganu. Paul's fine logical mind was the orgallizing force behind the excellent layout and planning for the '98 National's Market Place. Our sympathies go out to Marietta and to their children. D. Merrill Davis of Jackson, Ohio. Mr. Davis was a musical powerhouse throughout the United States. He conducted many cymanfoedd throughout Ohio, was the director of the St. David's Male Chorus, and for fifty years directed the choir at the Christ United Methodist Church. Our sympathies go to his family.
WSCO Life member Kathryn Kimmel Beard on December 26.
We recently learned of the death of former WSCO member Howard E. Jones on August 21, 2005, Howard was the husband of Carolyn Jones, former WSCO board member. Uyou would like to write to Carolyn, her address is 685 Mistletoe Street, Gahanna, Ohio 43230.
Our condolences to all their families. Their presence and contribution to the Welsh community will be sorely missed.
