Saint David’s Day
Celebrations
February 27th at the Statehouse
Ken Evans
Our 2009 St. David's Day festivities start on
Friday, Feb. 27 with the FLAG raising
at the Ohio Statehouse in
downtown Columbus, the SE corner of High & Broad Streets. Meet at 11:40 am
on the West plaza or just inside the West doors. We will raise the Welsh
flag at noon and sing our Welsh and American National anthems and a few
Welsh hymns. There will be TOURS
available:
The OHIO JUDICIAL CENTER
tour starts at 1:00 pm at
65 S. Front Street. This is where the
SUPREME COURT resides. The Supreme Court moved into the Ohio Statehouse in
1857, then moved into the Statehouse annex [now the Senate Building] in
1901, then moved into the Rhodes Tower when it was finished in 1974, then
the Ohio Departments Building underwent a meticulous 4- year renovation and
restoration to become the Ohio Judicial Center in 2004. It is rich in
history, told in murals, paintings, sculpture and mosaics.
We will meet at the main entrance, 65 S. Front
Street [at the end of State Street going West from High Street], between
12:45 and 1:00 pm. Building security is enforced.

The STATEHOUSE
tour is another option. There are regular tours
every hour between 10:00 am - 3:00 pm weekdays. So, if you go at 11:00, you
could take part in the noon flag raising and the Ohio Judicial Center Tour.
Meet at the 3rd Street entrance to the Senate Building [attached to the east
side of the Statehouse] just before 11:00 am.

invite your state representative/senator, relatives, friends, and neighbors.
