WSCO is a chartered, non-profit corporation whose purpose is to foster appreciation of, and to preserve, Welsh heritage and traditions. We have around 250 members including the board of directors, who all volunteer -- there are no paid positions.
There are expenses throughout the year and our checking account is maintained through annual dues, lifetime memberships, and donations. These expenses have gone up every year but our checking account has remained fairly steady, mostly through your generous donations in addition to annual dues and lifetime memberships. We don't want to raise dues if at all possible and we won’t need to if there are more of your generous donations.
Our expenses include insurance, storage locker rental, phone, P.O. Box, web hosting, software, postage, printing, supplies, artists, accompanists, decorations, and meeting spaces.
Many organizations like ours are usually mostly sustained by trusts, endowments, memorials, and large-sum donors. Mary Ellen Morgan has an article on planned giving in this Dragon Tales; perhaps this will resonate with some of you that have been financially blessed. You can designate specific uses like scholarships, gymanfa, St. David's Day events, funding Dragon Tales, Welsh studies, Welsh arts and artists, Welsh American Heritage Museum in Oak Hill, library items or perhaps something not thought about yet. It could be in honor or memory of someone.
Our treasurer's report is open to any member of WSCO, just ask. If you would like to be on the board of directors, let us know.
The Welsh Society of Central Ohio sincerely hopes that you and those you love came through the recent serious weather with no loss greater than a tree, a few roof shingles, or a freezer full of food.

In the past three months we have added numerous news stories of Welsh interest. We continue to look for new links and items of interest to add to our web page. Please let me know if you have any suggestions. Remember whenever you meet someone that asks about our Society to direct them to visit our website. They can learn about the history of the Society, find out about upcoming events of Welsh interest, and print off a membership form. WSCO’s website -- http://www.centralohiowelsh.org.

For those who pay dues annually, your dues will expire Dec. 31st.
In an effort to eliminate confusion regarding WSCO’s membership “year” for those who pay annual dues, the Board switched to a calendar year from the long-standing March 1st through the end-of-the-next February timeframe. This practice started in 2008.
Annual members are kept on our mailing list for one year past their dues expiration date and continue to receive Dragon Tales during that year.
If you find a green (regular renewal) or pink (expired dues) notice in the middle of this newsletter, we are hoping you will renew your dues. (online readers click here for membership information)
If your dues for next year are received by February 15th, you will be included in the membership roster which will be distributed the day of our St. David’s Day celebration and meal. Those not attending will be sent their copy.
