Ed Jones from Jackson, Ohio sends his greetings to all his friends at WSCO. Ed is the father of Jeanne Jones Jindra of the Madog Center for Welsh Studies and attended many WSCO events over the years. His wife Dorothy passed away in 2000. Ed still lives at his home in Jackson and attends as many Southeastern Ohio Welsh events as he can. He loves to talk about his Welsh ancestors and has passed all family history material down to Jeanne. He is related to WSCO members Helen Davis and Anita Albright.
Ann Gillard, director of the Columbus Welsh Singing Society, is not “singing the blues” because the chorus is growing by leaps and bounds. The early report was that they gained five new members since the last issue of Dragon Tales – WSCO members Stacy and Cheryl Evans along with Maria (Mabli) Teresa Agozzino and Matthew and Janine Wilson. An interesting note: both “halves” of both of the married couples are ministers, adding four ministers to the CWSS in one fell swoop!
Mabli is from Wales and she and Stacy add two more Welsh language coaches to the chorus. (Mabli also attended the September Welsh folk dance class saying that she has “always wanted to do this!” and marveling that she had to come “over here” to do it)
The updated report from Ann has the chorus also welcoming WSCO members Tom and Leslie Twigg in addition to Marshall and Mary Ann Kammerud. Marshall is the chorus’s fifth minister! What with having five ministers and singing in the language of Heaven ... never mind, there are just too many options in the “holy” and “blessed” vein of remarks to choose just one.
Ann is appreciative of the dedication and talent that all these folks bring to the group and the rest of us are eagerly anticipating the chorus’s next performance at a WSCO event. In the meantime, you are invited to attend one of their other performances – see the article on page 4.
Dianne and Homer Williams invite you to join them for the wedding of their son, Evan Thomas Williams to Dana Moore, daughter of the Reverend Bob and Anita Moore. The wedding is scheduled for Saturday, October 13, 2007 at 3:30 pm, Christ Lutheran Church on East Main St. in Bexley.

Life Member Elizabeth Donaldson, mother of Bob Donaldson, WSCO board member, had a rough August. She fell and broke her left arm and a week later fell and broke her right hip, necessitating a hip replacement. The following week, she fell and sustained a concussion! Get well wishes go to Lib from all of us at WSCO. If you’d like to send her a card, Lib’s address is: 1605 Northwest Professional Plaza #418, Columbus, OH 43220.
WSCO president, Homer Williams, is scheduled for a total hip replacement in November – and he got up and folk danced at the WSCO picnic anyway!! We wish a smooth surgery and short hours in the physical therapy room to Homer and look forward to him tripping the light fantastic at next year’s picnic.
Barb Perry, one of our regular folk dancers, went through minor surgery this summer and will be facing a more serious surgery later this year – our thoughts and prayers go to her for a successful operation and a speedy recovery.
After the membership list went out with the last newsletter, we were notified by Beth Hoffman that her mother, Dorothy Hoffman, died in April of 2006 at the age of 88. Our sympathies go out to Beth and the rest of her family.
Your Editor neglected to alert you in the last issue that board member Marilynn Miller moved from her west-side Columbus home to Hilliard. Marilynn’s new address is in the membership roster but her phone number listed there is slightly incorrect – the last four digits should be -1059.
WSCO member Lee Evans spent 17 days in Wales at the end of May and the first part of June, and reports: “I did my genealogy before going over, and was lucky enough to find the family farm that my great-grandfather, in 1865, left at the age of 20 to come to Youngstown, Ohio. Not only did I find the family farm, but I found my family! They still own the farm!”
For 36 years, Johanna Jones Keiser and her husband, Bruce, have been going to Manitoulin Island, Ontario, Canada for family vacations. This year, during their week in June at Mac’s Camp, they were joined by their 3 grandsons, son and son-in-law. Johanna, the only female in the group, says they caught lots of perch and bass and had many campfires. Her comment on the whole experience – “Happiness is!”
